1.  To mark ‘World Rare Disease Day’ a Conference inaugurated.
A)   The one-day Conference inaugurated by the Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Shri J.P. Nadda, in the presence of Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh
B)   On the occasion a newsletter published by the “Indian Organization of Rare diseases” was also released.

 

2.  In Indore on a grand note Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahtsav ends.

Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahtsav

A)   (RSM) -2018 organized by Ministry of Culture in Madhya Pradesh.
B)   It is ended in Indore with a dazzling closing ceremony graced by the esteemed presence of the Loksabha Speaker, Smt. Sumitra Mahajan as the Chief Guest.
C)   Braving showers, people participated in the valedictory of the cultural extravaganza in large numbers.
D)   Starting its journey from the Gwalior’s Maan Mandir Fort the event showcased an amalgamation of Crafts & Art Forms, Cuisine Fest and Magnificent Performances.
E)   Under the umbrella of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, the festival received continuous gratitude for playing a major role to effectively connect the audience to the rich, diverse and undiscovered culture of India.

 

3.  Continuation of PMEGP beyond 12th Plan approved by cabinet.
A)   Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi chaired the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs.
B)   It has approved the continuation of Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) beyond 12th Plan.
C)   It has approved for 3 years, from 2017-18 to 2019-20 with a total outlay of Rs. 5,500 crore.
D)   Scheme will create sustainable estimated employment opportunities for 15 lakh persons in three financial years.
E)   Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) is the nodal implementation agency at the national level.
F)   Applications are invited and processed on-line on PMEGP-e-portal.

 

4.  Mobile Application launched by Dr Harsh Vardhan.
A)   A digital mobile application was launched by the Union Minister for Environment, Forests and Climate Change. Earth Sciences and Science & Technology.
B)   It is launched in an effort to transform environment protection into a peoples’ movement in New Delhi.
C)   The App, named “Dr Harsh Vardhan”, focuses on his social & public activities and involvement of citizens in “Green Good Deeds” movement.
D)   It urges people to perform at least one Green Good Deed every day.
E)   Some of the 500 Green Good Deeds listed in the Mobile App include – planting trees, saving energy, conserving water, use of public transport and promoting carpool. 

 

5.  (ATGM) NAG successfully flight-tested.

NAG

A)   In desert conditions against two tank targets at different ranges and timings, Anti-Tank Guided Missiles (ATGM) NAG was successfully flight-tested.
B)   Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has been developed NAG ATGM.
C)   Flight tests have once again proved its capability.
D)   With this, the developmental trials of the missile have been completed and it is now ready for induction.

 

6.  Meeting of the Joint Steering Committee on Homeland and Public Security of India and Israel held.
A)   Meeting held on New Delhi.
B)   Capacity building and modernization in the Police Forces besides border management were the objectives of the meetings.
C)   The meeting follows the resolve of the Prime Ministers of both countries to combat the grave threat that terrorism poses to peace and security.

 

7.  For Urban Poor under PMAY (urban) 1,28,509 affordable Houses Sanctioned.

PMAY

A)   Construction of 1,28,509 more affordable houses for the benefit of urban poor under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) has approved by Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs.
B)   The approval was given in the 31st meeting of the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee in its meeting.
C)   The projects where sanctioned across 184 cities in the states of Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Puducherry (UT).
 

8.  In Chandigarh, India’s first Aviation multi-skill development centre opens

A)   By aviation minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju an aviation multi-skill development centre (MSDC) was opened.
B)   A CSR initiative of Airports Authority of India (AAI), this first-of-its-kind centre has been set up in collaboration with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).
C)   It is supported by the Aerospace and Aviation Sector Skill Council (AASSC) of India.
D)   Rs 5.2 crore project is housed at Chandigarh’s old airport terminal building.
 

9.  In December quarter India’s GDP growth rises to 7.2%.

A)   In the October-December quarter, India regained the status of the world’s fastest-growing major economy.
B)   Driven by a pick-up in growth in manufacturing and services sectors.
C)   In the October-December quarter, Gross domestic product or GDP grew 7.2 per cent.
D)   Since July-September quarter of 2016-17, this is the highest quarterly growth recorded.
E)   China had recorded a growth of 6.8 per cent in the December quarter.

 

10. A K Pradhan as Group Chief Risk Officer appointed by PNB.
A)   Its general manager A K Pradhan as the Group Chief Risk Officer appointed by PNB.
B)   However, functions and responsibilities of the Group Chief Risk Officer did not disclosed by the state-owned lender.
C)   PNB has said that the amount of fraud in the Nirav Modi case can go up to Rs 12,700 crore as against the earlier estimate of Rs 11,400 crore.

 

11. World Sportsman of the Year 2017, Roger Federer.
A)   2017 Laureus World Sportsman of the Year and Comeback of the Year awards won by Roger Federer.
B)   The 36-year-old Swiss won the Australian Open and Wimbledon titles in 2017 after nearly five years without a major.
C)   Serena Williams took the World Sportswoman of the Year award after winning her 23rd grand slam in 2017.
D)   Formula 1 constructors’ champions Mercedes picked up the Team of the Year accolade.
E)   Wheelchair athlete Marcel Hug won Sportsperson of the Year with a Disability.

 

12. Action plan for champion sectors in services approved by Union Cabinet.

A)   To give focused attention to 12 identified Champion Services Sectors (CSS)for promoting their development and realizing their potential.

B)   The share of India’s services sector in global services exports was 3%in 2015 compared to 3.1% in 2014.

C)   Based on this initiative, a goal of2 %has been envisaged for 2022.

D)   Its share in Gross Value Added (GVA)was about 53% in 2015-16 (61 % including construction services).

 

13. Bank guarantee for pulses and oilseeds jfor NAFED approved by CCEA.

A)   The regularization and extension is for undertaking procurement operation of pulses and oil seeds under Price Support Scheme(PSS).

B)   The CCEAalso approved Government Guarantee up to 45 crore to the Small Farmers Agri-Business Consortium (SFAC).

C)   It is approved for meeting its existing liability and settlement of extant claims.

D)   The guarantee will be provided for period of5 years, till 2021-22 and with waiver of 1% of government guarantee fee.

 

14. In January 2018, core sector grows at 6.7%

A)   According to index of eight core industries Core sector growth has grown at faster pace of 7% in January 2018 against 3.4% in January 2017.

B)   The eight core sectors had grown by 2% in December 2017 and 7.4% in November 2017.

C)   It is released by Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

 

15. Agreement between India and Jordan on Customs Matters approved by Cabinet.

A)   The Union Cabinet has approved signing and ratifying Agreement between India and Jordanon Cooperation and Mutual Administrative Assistance in Customs Matters.

B)   It will help in availability of relevant information for prevention and investigation of Customs offences.

C)   It is also expected to facilitate trade and ensure efficient clearance of goods traded between countries.

 

16. MoU between India and Jordan on beneficiation of Rock Phosphate and Muriate of Phosphate (MOP).

A)   It also approved setting up production facility in Jordan for Phosphoric Acid/NPK/DAP Fertilizers with long term agreement for 100% off-take to India.

B)   The MoU will ensure consistent supply of raw material, intermediaries and finish Phosphate and Potassic (P&K) fertilizers.
